Hello everyone! On my podcast, I will again have a guest who is a founder of an online media “FUKUOKA NOW“! The guest today, Nick and his wife Emiko have been producing an online media about my hometown, Fukuoka, in both English and Japanese for about 25 years.
The first episode was about his background story, how Fukuoka has been changing and how unique Fukuoka is. So we basically gave you the overall picture of the city. On the second episode today, we will narrow down to a few specific areas as well as food and how to enjoy the best season of the year to visit. You will love this episode if you are planning to visit there.

というテーマで、国際人のためにどんどん進化する福岡の魅力を伝えるウェブメディア「FUKUOKA NOW」のニック・サーズさんを、後半もゲストにお迎えしています。
福岡のラジオで、国内外からの沢山のアーティストにインタビューさせていただいた時に、皆さんが口を揃えて、「食べ物が美味しい、お魚が美味しい」とおっしゃっていました。当時はその意味がいまいちよくわかっていなかったのですが、１０年以上離れてみてはじめて、帰省する度に「うわ〜本当にお刺身が新鮮！」と気づいたんですね。
仕事柄、さまざまな都道府県の方や様々な国の友人とお話をすることがありますが、私たちは、自分の出身地や住む街の魅力に気づくことが難しいんだなと感じます。今回のエピソードが、外から客観的に見る福岡を知るきっかけに、そして自分の街についてあらためて考えるきっかけになれば幸いです。

On May 3rd and 4th, we have a huge festival called “Dontaku” and it’s a citizens’ traditional festival meaning that a lot of people participate in groups like offices, associations or clubs marching to the streets. They form in groups and march to the streets! There are all kinds of stages around the city, stage performances and food stalls. Many people come in during the Golden Week for this event and shopping as well!
The nature wise, we have wisteria and azalea are in full bloom in this golden week season. So this is the best time to be in Kyushu!!!
We also talked about Dazaifu Tenmangu area! You can enjoy an art gallery inside Dazaifu Temangu which is a big supporter of the arts. You can see the public arts in each shrine ground, so you enjoy both traditional and modern atmosphere at the same time! There is Kyushu National Museum nearby, too.

✔️ You can use the tourist trains run by JR mostly. There are not only super expensive premium ones but also reasonable trains as well. They go around the loop so you can visit the whole island.
