Hi everyone! This February, the month of Valentine’s Day, we’re surrounded by so many inspiring global events — the Grammy Awards, the Winter Olympics, and more. Which moment inspired you the most? I’m personally spending a very meaningful month, both professionally and privately, and I’ve been deeply inspired by so many artists and athletes along the way.
Today, I’m featuring Lauryn Hill from the Grammys. There’s so much we can learn from her — about identity, living authentically, parenting, career, success, and love. I hope you find a little light and love through the words I’ll be sharing with you today.

第68回グラミー賞で、私も敬愛するシンガーLauryn Hillが「In Memoriam」（追悼）セグメントに登場しました。2025に逝去した1990年代を代表する二人のソウルアーティストD’AngeloとRoberta Flackへのトリビュートパフォーマンスを披露しましたが、彼女がグラミーの式典でパフォーマンスをするのは1999年にグラミー賞で５部門を受賞して以来、なんと27年ぶり！
D’Angeloは、Neo-soulを代表するレジェンドアーティスト。一方Lauryn Hillは、Fugees（フージーズ）のメンバーから、ヒップホップソロアーティストとして1998年のアルバム「The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill」が大ヒット！私自身も何度も聴き込んで影響を受けたので、個人的にとても楽しみにしていました。このアルバムでは彼女が22歳でZionという子供を出産して、その息子（Bob Marleyの孫）への想いを書き下ろした一曲の歌詞に大きな影響を受けました。

このアルバムで二人は楽曲”Nothing Even Matters”でコラボしていました。
Roberta Flackは、1970年代を代表するソウルの女王。”Killing Me Softly With His Song”は誰もが知る名曲。FugeesのLauryn Hillが1996年にこの曲をカバーし、世界的大ヒットとなりました。
彼女の音楽の才能だけでく、アーティストとして、クリエイターとして、母として、女性として、アイデンティティーを表現する一人の人として、魅力あふれる彼女の生き方に触れられるよう、彼女の魂から生まれる音楽と言葉を紹介ご紹介します。
